Sometimes a client wants to know just how the web design process goes. Without giving up secrets, I find that its important for every web designer to give their clients a look into what stages are taken to produce the product they are paying for. Here you can get a quick look into my web design creative process and how each stage is key to producing quality work.
All great websites start with great ideas. Whether you're looking for a website redesign or are completely new to the web, you're hiring a web designer to make this idea a reality. Optimally, you will have sent me an email and gotten in touch with me expressing your interest in my work. Over a detailed discussion ; terms, deadlines and other important factors such as domain availability and hosting will be addressed.
So we've had a chance to talk and you've hired me. While some projects may have already past this stage, all new web design projects require a creative brief. At this stage I take great care collecting valuable information about your business, how you wish to be represented on the web and what kind of functionality your website requires. A submission of this information in email is very useful as it can be used as a reference at future points.
After rounding up all collected data on the project, I begin my projects by developing sketches appropriate to the design. Later after narrowing down a few concepts, they go through a wire framing process. This creates templates from which can be used to help quickly and rapidly create compositions that my clients can choose from. Final concepts and wireframes can be viewed or moved online through services such as dropbox or email.
Once a layout structure has been determined, the project is moved to Photoshop for design implementation. The sketches and wireframe are used as templates in the program to help prototype. Various design styles, colors and graphics are then applied creating the initial web design. Later on this design can and usually is slightly altered as needed to reflect the clients needs and desires.

Finding the most appropriate way to control and deliver data, is very important in a project. As an experienced Wordpress Developer, I swear by its strength as a Content Management System however some large scale projects may require a more specific feature set for the project. At this stage I find if an existing content management system is appropriate or if a more custom solution must be developed to power the website.
After having selected an appropriate engine, I begin using the design files, to help structure thefront end of the website. Implementing PHP, HTML5, CSS3 and jQuery I bring the design to life. Using powerful and reliable frameworks, browser compatibility is achieved through all modern web browsers all the way back to internet explorer 7. Development for internet explorer 6 is also available, however all sites are built with a script that assists internet explorer 6 users in achieving a more accurate representation of the design.
After all is said and done, a meeting is arranged with the client where we review the final product. I will have done my own testing procedures prior to this stage, but my code is developed specifically so that if a client needs to make last minute revisions before launch, that it is done fast and at minimal cost. I also take this opportunity to optimize internal SEO the best I can with what content I have available. In addition, I also provide 2 hours of free website training for all clients.
After launch, security, website maintenance and SEO is done on a by contract basis. For interested clients, I provide keyword research, SEO and web analytics reports. Some projects also require monthly maintenance to keep at top efficiency. For these projects, updates to security packages, site changes and alterations are made. Monthly maintenance and SEO are bound by different contracts however and must be discussed, unless it was asked for in the initial project description.
